Talbot County Council 2026 Election Town Hall

The Avalon Foundation and the Talbot Spy will host a Talbot County Council candidates town hall on Tuesday, October 6, at 6 p.m. at the Avalon Theatre in Easton.

Dennis Forney, publisher, journalist, and columnist on the Delmarva Peninsula since 1972, will serve as moderator. He spent 18 years with The Whale before co-founding the Cape Gazette with editor Trish Vernon in 1993, building it into an independently owned community newspaper serving Delaware’s Cape Region. Forney served as publisher and wrote his longtime “Barefootin’” column until he and Vernon sold the newspaper at the end of 2021. He continues to write for the Talbot Spy about the Chesapeake Bay, the environment, local history and life on Delmarva from his home on Grace Creek in Bozman.

Beginning September 16, the Avalon and the Spy will conduct a public poll to identify the major issues facing Talbot County and invite residents to submit questions for the candidates. The results will help shape the town hall discussion.

The program will include questions for the candidates, moderated discussion and two-minute closing statements. It will be recorded for later viewing on the Talbot Spy website and broadcast on MCTV.
