Following her acclaimed 2024 company debut in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, soprano Asmik Grigorian returns to the Met as Tatiana, the lovestruck young heroine in this ardent operatic adaptation of Pushkin, which will be transmitted live from the Metropolitan Opera stage to cinemas worldwide on May 2. Baritone Iurii Samoilov will sing the title role of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin. Samoilov made his Met debut in 2022 as Schaunard in Puccini’s La Bohème, a role he reprised with the company earlier this season. New York Classical Review described him as “…a singer with vocal allure and charisma to burn.”
