Jimmie’s Chicken Shack is a band whose funk-laden, groove-oriented, lighthearted take on alternative rock and frantic shows has earned a cult following.

The Annapolis-based band takes its name from a blues restaurant in New York’s Harlem section where jazz legend Charlie Parker was said to have once been a dishwasher. With that guiding jazz spirit, their rocking, rolling, explosive sound has been called “mutt rock” because of the wide variety of musical styles it incorporates.

Vocalist Jimi HaHa describes JCS’s sound as “funky without being funk, punky without being punk, hard without being hardcore, metallic without being metal, bluesy without being blues, and poppy without being pop.”

JUST ANNOUNCED! Opening for Jimmie's Chicken Shack is Journos - a critically acclaimed Indie-Americana duo whose songs are saturated in social, emotional and existential commentary built around sharp-tongued wit and a heavy dose of bruised optimism.

Think Bob Dylan raised on punk. Think Tom Waits after group therapy. Think two guys who’ve lived long enough as real journalists to know that truth is messy and sometimes best delivered with a riff and a sneer.

Their two albums (“In the Key of WTF” and “The Burning Question”) have spanned the globe on radio and streaming platforms as their songs have struck a chord for being whip smart, uncompromising and delivered with enough snark and anger to meet the moment of these uncertain times.

It's "thinking" music that sounds like "drinking" music.
