Brett Dennen - Art is Life

  • Avalon Theatre
  • Doors: 6:30pm / Show: 7:00pm

Folk-pop singer-songwriter Brett Dennen has spent decades capturing audiences with his soulful voice, thoughtful lyricism, and deeply human storytelling.

Tickets: $45 (fees not included)

In his “Art is Life” tour, Dennen draws from a life devoted to acoustic music, storytelling, and visual art to create an intimate concert experience that incorporates his own large paintings, engaging original songs, and audience interaction to make each night unique.

Here’s a message from Brett about the show:
“It is an ‘evening with’ style concert, which means no opening act. It also will be just me singing and playing acoustic guitar, which you’ve heard and seen before, but that isn’t the interesting part. What I will be doing on this tour is bringing art, music, performer, and audience together for something that is going to be unique, not just as a concept but each night should be it’s own special thing.

I’ll have some of my artwork on stage that will be part of the show, along with my performance, but you as an audience member will also be involved. You won’t have to do a whole lot, but in a small way you will have to help me create the setlist and the story telling involved at each show…. Thanks for letting me do this and in general, thank you for all your support.”

Here's a little more info about the show:

Brett Dennen launched the Art Is Life tour in November 2025 and has since taken it across the country. The show weaves Brett's music together with his original paintings, which he brings on stage each night, creating an intimate, interactive experience where fans share their own stories about what his music has meant to them.

Each performance unfolds in two parts. The first set is curated by Brett; the second is shaped entirely by the audience. Fans write their song requests on slips of paper and pass them to the front of the stage, where Brett reads them aloud and plays them live. He often asks the crowd which songs they connect to which paintings - and why - sparking unscripted conversations about the relationship between the two. It's also a moment when fans open up about the role his music has played in their lives, from walking down the aisle to finding comfort during hard times.

No two nights are the same. Each show becomes its own act of creative discovery, inviting both artist and audience into a space of reflection and connection.
