Family Packages Available for $50!

Don’t miss this fun, family-oriented evening of music celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in Talbot County!

Providing the night’s entertainment is Miramba Linda Xelaju, a Guatemalan family band from Silver Spring dedicated to spreading their culture in America through their beloved marimba music.

Founded in 1992, the group is mainly composed of Robert Giron and his three children, whom Giron started teaching to perform when they were 3 years old. The transmission of musical knowledge from father to son is a very common practice in traditional music. However, the sharing of knowledge from father to daughter opens up new possibilities in the practice of Latino music!

JUST ADDED! Ballet Folklorico La Esperanza will be dancing a few dances before the concert!

Our [Ballet Folklorico La Esperanza] vision is to preserve the traditions of our ancestors through the art of the traditional Mexican folklore, while providing a positive environment where our members can express themselves through dance. Our goal is for our children to learn and connect with their family roots through dance, taking pride in their effort to share the beauty of that culture with the local community.

Our aesthetic approach will always incorporate knowledgeable dance instruction to patiently teach the formal steps of folklorico dance to our youth along with the rich stories that accompany the traditions. Ballet Folklorico La Esperanza de Cambridge unites us in our community and we will do our best to embrace as many families on the Eastern Shore that long to pass on the traditions they value!

The concert, brought to you through the partnership between the Avalon Foundation and the Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center (ChesMRC), concludes a series of community events celebrating all the wonderful colors and flavors of Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15, 2023).
