Summer Camp 2016 Programs

Since 2000, the Summer Theatre Camps have been offered every summer for students K-8. The programs for beginners introduce young people to acting, singing, & dancing and work to develop self-confidence and skills that they can take beyond the acting stage, while the advanced camps further this experience by delving deeper into the theatrical arts, story writing and production.

Petite Players -

June 20 – 24 (half days, 9:00 – 12 Noon)
Performance Friday at Noon
Entering grades K – 2
Tuition: $150

The focus of this introductory theatre program is to develop creativity and self-confidence through acting, singing, poetry, movement, storytelling, and FUN!!

Curtain Call -

July 18 – 22 (9:00 – 3:00)
Performance Friday, time TBD
Entering grades 5 – 8
Tuition: $275

“We make it from scratch!” That’s our motto at Curtain Call. From comedy sketches to dramatic stories, to “Words from our sponsors”, we create it all ourselves. The Curtain Call theatre program accommodates brand new beginners as well as experienced young actors. Daily activities include theatre games, storytelling, script writing, voice and movement techniques, character development, and stagecraft. The theme for 2016 may be taken straight from the news headlines: Election Year!

Curtain Call Junior -

June 27 – July 1 (9:00 – 3:00)
Performance Friday at 3:00 P.M.
Entering grades 2 – 5
Tuition: $275

This program focuses young actors on developing basic acting and storytelling skills, through a variety of fun daily activities and games. The curriculum is similar to regular Curtain Call, with all activities adapted appropriately for the ‘Junior’ age group.

Hot Week Cool Show -

JULY 25 – 29 (9:00 – 3:00)
Performance Friday, time TBD
Entering grades 2 – 8
Tuition: $275

It’s HOT in July, but it’s COOL inside the Avalon Theatre! We’ll produce a whole play in just five days. There will be parts for everyone who signs up – small fun parts for younger actors, and bigger, challenging roles for our more experienced acting campers. What’s the play? That is yet to be determined, but the fun is guaranteed!
