Hello! My name is Tara Kitchelt! I am a senior at Easton High School and have lived in Easton all my live. I use to play some sports when I was younger but I transitioned into doing only acting, singing, and dance. Like every other actresses dream, my goal is to one day perform professionally and maybe even be on Broadway. I am currently an Intern at the Avalon Theatre!
As I was growing up, I always use to pass by the Avalon Theatre but I never really knew what happened indoors. Eventually, I got to see the wonders inside when my sister performed in Avalon Theatre’s Summerfame camp and I instantly fell in love the theatre. The Avalon Theatre is a historic building that is almost a hundred years old and is home to a ghost actress who likes to ride the elevator. It holds a Main stage, the Stoltz Listening Room, and a local television station. Since I’m majoring in Musical Theatre for college, I want to be able to work in a theatre after college when I’m not in rehearsal or auditioning. I was also very interested in learning about how a theatre is run since most of my theatre experience has been on the stage. My friend told me that the Avalon Theatre holds internships so I sent The Avalon Foundation an email. It has only been three days since I’ve begun my internship and I’ve already learned so much!
The Avalon Foundation does so much more than just booking and planning the next show. It surprised me when I found out that they run The Easton Farmer’s Market, Easton’s Carnival and 4th of July Celebration, and the Arts in Easton Banner Program. I think it’s amazing how this group helps the community with more than just the theatre productions. My goals as an intern is to able to learn more about backstage, the booking process, and jobs available at theatre companies. I’m so excited for this internship and be a part of this group!
