Tim's Current Music Phase
The most beautiful summer I can ever remember is officially over but luckily the fall line-up of shows at the Avalon Theatre is already attracting those of us who like nothing better than live music performed in an intimate, acoustically perfect setting. What other venue besides the Avalon offers such an incredible range of entertainment for every generation – all the way from jazz, blues, rock and roll, and folk, to opera, stand-up comedy, and the Vienna Boys Choir?
Julianne Mason (pictured far right), a sophmore at Boston College double majoring in Theatre and Psychology and minoring in Dance, spent her summer learning the ropes at the Avalon Founation. She shares with us some of her experiences:
Avalon Foundation and Chesapeake Chamber Music volunteer Janet Pfeffer shares with us her experiences of channeling her inner Suzy Moore, and describes her duties of managing the Avalon Theatre during this Labor Day Weekend's Monty Alexander Jazz Festival. You can learn more about the Festival and purchase tickets by visiting the Chesapeake Chamber Music website. The Festival runs from August 28th-31st, with shows at the Avalon Theatre starting Friday, August 29th.
In its 20th year in operation, the Avalon Foundation has grown to become the largest arts non-profit organization on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, and has contributed to an active and vibrant community that you’d expect to find in a city much larger than the Town of Easton. For such a small-town place, there’s always something going on here in Easton to make it such an active and vibrant community.
