Hi, my name is Seth Wagner. I am 13 and going into the 8th grade at St. Michaels Middle High, and I live on the water, near Spencer Creek. Growing up near the water has really shown me how important the Bay is to us. In my free time, I enjoy swimming, kayaking, and tubing. Living on the bay has also shown me one other thing, the condition it is in. I've seen it at its best and its worst. At its best, it is a beautiful and serene sight. There are kids and adult’s alike swimming and boating, and having the time of their lives. At its worst, it is littered with garbage and pollutants. Some careless people throw their cans and bottles in the water once they're done with them. Once when I was swimming, I actually stepped on what appeared to be a boat mat. I HATE to see the Bay like that. We all need to do our part to fix the Bay's conditions and learn how to keep the bay clean and healthy, so that my children, and grandchildren, will get to enjoy the Bay just as I have.
We are lucky to have the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to help the Bay, but they can't do it alone. We all need to pitch in. One thing that the Chesapeake Bay Foundation is doing is partnering up with the Avalon Foundation, to promote how to keep our Bay healthy, by putting forth the Chesapeake Clean Water Concert Series. You can come, hang out with your friends and neighbors, listen to some live music, and enjoy yourself! Not only will this be a fun free experience, but you can learn how we all can do our part to help the Bay!
On this Saturday (June 20th) the XPD's are coming! I had never heard of this band until last year, when they came to the 2014 Chesapeake Clean Water Concert Series, and I loved them! I must admit, I was quite surprised to see my mom up and dancing away with everyone else (even I had to join in)! I even told my mom, that that brought her to a new level of cool. One other particular concert on June 27, at 6pm, the US Navy Band Sea Chanters. They play everything from Opera, to lyrical, to Broadway! I really hope to see you there!
P.S. If you see me and my friends dancing, feel free to give us a holler! - Seth Wagner
