The Avalon Foundation seeks new artists to join our Arts in Easton Banner Program. Through this program works of art have adorned the lamp posts of downtown Easton for the past 15 years. The goal of the Arts in Easton Banner Program is to market the Town of Easton as a vibrant arts community and a destination for artists and collectors alike. If you are interested in becoming an Arts in Easton Banner Artist, here is what you need to know:
- You must be an artist - by either hobby or trade - who resides in Talbot County or has ties to the Easton arts community (local gallery representation, involvement in local arts organizations, etc.). - You will be asked to paint one side of a banner by May 29th, when it will then be hung upon a lamp post in downtown Easton until the following April.
What you get for your work:
- A party! On Saturday, May 14th 2016, the Avalon Theatre will host a silent/live auction event with complimentary drinks and hors d'oeuvres. - Money! At the auction, artists will receive 75% of the sale of their banner after the first $100. Banner sales in recent years have averaged $350-400, with some sold for as much as $1,500. - Exposure - your banner will hang in the streets of Easton for nearly a year, for all visitors to see and appreciate. - Pride in helping your community - be a part of the effort to ensure that when people think of Easton they think of art.
The goal of the program is to showcase the creative talent in our community: the subject, medium and scope of your work are your choice.
