Virginia-based folk-rock band The Steel Wheels have spent almost twenty years writing, recording, and touring, all the while constantly honing their evolving brand of American roots music.
Through the years, The Steel Wheels have drawn on both traditional form and modern sounds to capture the beauty in all of life’s varied trials and triumphs. And they are the founders and hosts of the Red Wing Roots Music Festival, a weekend-long celebration of music and community and a beloved staple of the Shenandoah Valley.
Whether at a joyous summer festival, in their many shows across the country and beyond, or in the studio, The Steel Wheels continue their mission set out over a decade ago; shaking up traditions to see what sticks, telling stories, and joining communities through song. All of this continues with their latest album, Sideways, where the band’s signature close harmonies and propulsive mountain energy are something to be experienced live.
Opening for The Steel Wheels is Greg Loftus. Greg is an independent Americana singer/songwriter, bandleader and recording artist. A Northeast native, Loftus spent the better half of the last decade in Austin, TX honing his songwriting skills and fronting the alt-country band Carpetbagger. In 2017 he returned back to Massachusetts with a few albums under his belt and voice of experience that he could call his own. Greg’s fourth full-length record, No Kings in the Wild, is a collection of hand-crafted Americana songs ready to find an audience.
